2009-2010 Reimbursement Form For Student Grant Funds
The
Shrewsbury Alumni Association, founded in 1993, is a non-profit organization whose goal is to bring together all interested
alumni and friends of SHS graduates and to promote the best interest of the schools and community by fostering enthusiasm,
involvement, and close relationships.
In
1995, the Alumni Association decided to promote the Shrewsbury High School Student Grant Program. The criteria would be that all grant applications must be used to promote educational or charitable projects
or to foster a sense of community. All SHS student groups, club, classes,
or organizations with a minimum of five students either involved or benefiting from the project would be eligible. Grants would be awarded from no less than $100 and no greater than $400.
In order to see the SHS Alumni Grant Program come
to fruition, the Alumni Association relied strictly on a small group of dedicated volunteer alumni. Contributions made
through donations, membership, and community fundraising efforts help support the entire SHS Student Grant Program. We started off small with very limited resources and gave out three students grants a year. Now, the SHS Student Grant Program has grown and so has the need. We have funded an average of 14 Students grants in the last ten years.
At the Alumni Association's Grant Award Ceremony, On November 19, 2008, fourteen SHS Student Grant Applicants received funding for their student projects. To date, the total number of grant funds awarded since its inception totals close to $50,000 and has benefited more than 25,000 students
at SHS.
